Alstom will build the first 1000 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant in Southeast Asia. In a project with a total value of about 1billion euros, Alstom signed a contract with TNB janamanjung Sdn Bhd worth more than 650million euros to provide core power generation equipment for Malaysia's manjung power plant. The power plant is the first 1000 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant in Southeast Asia, and will become the only and largest coal-fired power plant in Southeast Asia, which can meet the power demand of more than 2million households in Malaysia. as a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), a Malaysian state-owned power generation and transmission and distribution company, TNB janamanjung SDN BHD. awarded Alstom and its consortium partner China machinery and equipment import and Export Corporation the engineering design, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for this turnkey power plant. According to the contract, Alstom will be responsible for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 1000 MW steam turbine, a generator and a supercritical boiler, as well as other auxiliary equipment. Alstom will also provide and install its most advanced alspa 6 series distributed control system (DCS) and environmental control system to achieve emission reduction. The power plant plans to realize the military band playing the national anthems of China and Mongolia and generating electricity in 2015, adding 1000 megawatts of power to Malaysian electricity

previously, Alstom signed a contract with TNB in 1999 to build a 2100mw Manrong coal-fired power plant, which has been put into operation. It includes three 700 MW units, which were put into operation in 2004. They all adopt Alstom's clean coal combustion technology and its market-leading environmental control system
